Introduction

Welcome to MenuTap! We understand that transitioning to a digital menu system might seem daunting at first, but we've designed our platform to make the process as smooth as possible. This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of creating and launching your multilingual digital menu.

Getting Started with MenuTap

Before You Begin

Creating a successful digital menu experience starts with proper preparation. Take a moment to gather your materials and ensure you have clear photos or scans of your current menu, a list of target languages, and 15–20 minutes for the initial setup.

Your menu images should be:

  • Clear and well-lit, without glare or shadows
  • Taken against a white or light background
  • At least 1500px wide for optimal clarity
  • Free from temporary notes or markings

If you have the original digital files for your menu (PDF, Word, InDesign), those work even better than photos — upload those directly and skip the photography step entirely.

Choosing Your Plan

Every MenuTap plan includes all nine supported languages — English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic — so you can reach guests from anywhere in the world regardless of which plan you choose. Plans differ in billing period and included features; visit menutap.biz/order to compare current options and pick the one that fits your budget.

Account Setup Process

Getting started with MenuTap is straightforward. Visit menutap.biz/order and follow our guided setup process. You'll choose your plan, enter your restaurant's details, and select a unique URL that will be part of your digital identity (e.g., menutap.biz/your-restaurant).

Implementing Your Digital Menu

After translations look good, it's time to bring your digital menu to life in your restaurant.

Physical Setup

Place your QR codes strategically throughout your restaurant:

  • On each table (table tent or sticker)
  • At the host station
  • In window displays and at the entrance
  • On takeout packaging and receipts

A laminated A5 card on each table with the QR code and a short line — "Scan for menu in 9 languages" — works extremely well for international guests.

Staff Training

Brief your staff on the basics:

  • How to help guests access the menu (open camera, point at code, tap the link)
  • How guests switch between languages (top of the menu page)
  • Basic troubleshooting (check phone camera, try entering the URL directly)
  • When to offer a printed backup menu

Customer Experience

Create a seamless experience with:

  • Clear, visible QR placement at eye level
  • Good lighting near QR codes for easier scanning
  • Strong WiFi coverage throughout the dining area
  • A short URL guests can type if scanning fails
